Here you can see way the colleges (mainly made up of older buildings), have been merged into the modern town of Oxford.

The large group of older buildings, near the left of the image, is the old Bodleian Library, and some of the other oldest buildings in Oxford. I'll be speaking about the Bodleian, later...
