An Excursion to the Old World

I am a student at the University of Toronto (Canada), going on what was once called "the Grand Tour" -- a trip around the whole of Northern Europe (and, perhaps, in the near future, Southern Europe as well). My parents and I should be spending about 3 months on our tour. I hope you will enjoy reading about my experiences, and feel free to suggest places to go (or pictures to take).

White Horse Hill - Glacial Events - 2

Another, better view, from the top of the manger.

Here you can also see how White Horse Hill marks the end of the glacial extension. From the hill, towards the north (looking into the distance), the entire area has been depressed by the weight of the glacier (isotactic depression). The hill itself is present, merely because the glacier never reached it (beyond the Manger, which was formd by the maximum extention of glacial ice, seen above).

Now, how do I know that the Hill is not merely a drumlin - see next post. Posted by Picasa
