An Excursion to the Old World

I am a student at the University of Toronto (Canada), going on what was once called "the Grand Tour" -- a trip around the whole of Northern Europe (and, perhaps, in the near future, Southern Europe as well). My parents and I should be spending about 3 months on our tour. I hope you will enjoy reading about my experiences, and feel free to suggest places to go (or pictures to take).

More famous Erratics

And here's a picture of some considerably more famous erratics!

Stonehenge -- seen from inside.

There's a special service run by the National Heritage (who are not so nice as the National trust, and charge admission fees) which allows people to go into the stone circle of Stonehenge, before the circle opens to the public in the morning.

Its a really amazing experience, but it is also probably the worst advertized possibility in England -- I read about it on a personal website, then spent almost 5 hours looking for it on the internet before finding it. (I'll give anyone heading to England a hint, search for Stone Circle Access, which is the official name).

Anyway, my parents and I did get into Stonehenge -- for proof (and that this was not simply taken with a good zoom lens) -- see further Posted by Picasa
